This polyptych is comprised of six panels that together depict a panoramic sunrise or sunset over an empty landscape. Four of the panels are also engraved with the letters F, U, T, and E, suggesting either "future" or "futile." Thus, this artwork foretells both the promise of tomorrow and an apocalyptic end.
